Uglies/Pretties/Specials

current mood: happy

I'm so glad my last exam this year is over... I did really well actually and got a 10 (the second highest grade)! So I'm really happy and relaxing, playing playstation, surfing the web and reading good books.

Right now I'm reading the Scott Westerfeld trilogy Uglies/Pretties/Specials (I'm at the last book now). It is a series of young adult books about a scary yet fascinating science fiction future in a world where everyone gets plastic surgery when they turn 16 to become "pretty". But there is a twist of course which I will not reveal here - duh.

I'm completely addicted to these books right now. My only complaint is that the author could go into much more detail about this future world with its amazing technology and the people who live there. But for a young adult book I think it works very well. It is well written, action driven, engaging and it constantly keeps you guessing. I love its unpredictability. At one place I thought I had it all figured out until the the plot presented some very unexpected mmm... circumstances.

I haven't finished it yet, but my inner young adult so hopes it will have a happy ending. Whatever that means.

Twitter

June 21st, 2009 (01:19 am)

I'm on Twitter. I wanted to know what it was everyone was talking about and now I know. Although I'm not sure I get it.
http://twitter.com/lemonith

Again, this past week I've been procrastinating like crazy. I have my exam on Monday, but I still haven't figured out how to present my project. It's late Saturday night/ early Sunday morning, so I'm really running out of time. Help? I'm surprised of my new laid-back attitude towards exams. When I was younger I would never have been this relaxed the day before an exam. Wow I must be growing or something. But I really need to go get prepared! Like right now :O

Zoo

May 31st, 2009 (12:24 am)

I went to the zoo today. The weather was really nice. I think I got a tan... at least I'm hoping that the red will turn tan eventually... :D
And I've got pictures! Most of them are taken through glass, but I think they turned out quite nicely. Can you tell I love turtles? ^^

And here is me! And a closeup of my new shoes. I wish I had gotten a better picture of my outfit.

Nothing New Really

determined

current mood: determined
current song: Suzanne Vega

I'm such a mess. Sometimes I think I'm subconsciously trying to take procrastination to a new level.
I'm writing my exam project. I've had 3 weeks and have written nothing so far. I have 2 weeks left. I want to kill myself. I have to go now and think up something very clever about people, the internet, learning, modern society and textiles. Although not necessarily in that order. Yes, it's a little vague right now, but I'm confident that if I just drink enough coffee and don't sleep it will sort itself out. Probably. Right..?

Okay, now a random picture to make this post more interesting.

I think that helped. (Lizard can also be seen in my poupee closet: pupe.ameba.jp/profile/QCFPFDPcJdE1/)

I also have some questions! If anyone wants to answer them I would be really happy ^^ (If you want to see what other people answered, see this post on deviantArt -> forum.deviantart.com/devart/general/1300500/)

1.
Do you use the internet to search for information?

2. When looking for information, do you prefer looking on the internet or in books? (Or somewhere else...?)

3. The internet has made it possible for anyone to share their knowledge. Is this a good thing?

4. Do you feel that the large amount of tutorials out there are the response to a demand?

5. How do you feel about the general quality of internet tutorials?

6. Why do you think people make tutorials? (To gain popularity in social environments, out of kindness of their hearts, for financial reasons...?)

7. Have you made a tutorial?
-------- If yes, then what were your reasons for making it?

8. Have you ever been inspired to try something new or do something you normally wouldn't because of a tutorial? (Pick up needlework, build a water cooler for your computer, try GIMP instead of Photoshop...?)

9. What attracts you to a tutorial? (Layout/graphic style, level of difficulty, previous existing interest in the subject...?)

10. Do you think it is easy to find relevant tutorials online?

11. Which kind of tutorial do you prefer? (Visual, text heavy, video, artistic, humorous...?)

Any last words of wisdom?

Lol Threadless.com just made my day XD I was just surfing random sites and came across their slogan t-shirt section. I laughed XD
Here are some of the slogans that cracked me up:

HONK if you are about to run me over.
Boomerangs: They're making a comeback
10 out of 10 people agree: We all agree
To err is human, to arr is pirate            -> (He he)
Global warming: All the cool planets are doing it.
If history repeats itself, I'm totally getting a dinosaur.
Nostalgia was better in the old days.
Actually, medicine is the best medicine.
Resist peer pressure. All the cool kids are doing it.
Forget science, I'm donating my body to magic
I supplement my personality with witty shirts      -> (LOL!)
I 'occasionally' use air quotes.
Life is like a box of terrible analogies.
Organ donor (see inside for details)
Origami turned my pants into this shirt       -> (This one made me squirt coffee out my nose XD)
I feel all warm and fuzzy inside, like I swallowed a kitten.
Roses are green, violets are yellow, also, I'm colorblind.
The art of conversation is, like, kinda dead and stuff.       -> (Yes! I want this :D)
Rock is dead and paper killed it.
Allow me to explain through interpretive dance
Stop destroying our planet. It's where I keep all my stuff.
Being vague is almost as fun as doing this other thing.      ->(lol lol lol XD XD)
Video games ruined my life. Good thing I have two extra lives.   -> (This one is quite famous, I think)
Procrastinators: leaders of tomorrow

These are a lot funnier on the t-shirts, so go check them out -> http://www.typetees.com/

Cold Turkey

January 25th, 2009 (10:57 pm)
sleepy

current mood: sleepy

I've bee feeling a little under the weather all through January. It could be the flu or a stomach infection, I don't know. Undefinable symptoms and being constantly tired is no fun.

I've decided to go cold turkey and not eat any sugar for the next 5 days. The plan is that having less sugar coursing through my body will make me healthier and hopefully more energized. Wish me luck (being a complete sugar addict I'm going to need it)! I'm also going to have eggs for breakfast, because eggs are healthy (and yummy!).

Completely unrelated, this is a felt star that I made. A friend of mine says it reminds him of Super Mario Galaxy which sadly I haven't tried yet. I want a Wii!

Busy busy

November 21st, 2008 (07:14 pm)
busy

current mood: busy

I'm so busy lately :O
We had just 3 days to write a report about the Culture Night event while at the same time having classes (with homework) plus preparing a theme-day that we are having next week and on top of it all next week we have to write a report about the upcoming internship period in December. I can't believe how badly my school is treating us x_x And as if that wasn't enough, next Saturday is Christmas Market day at my school and I have to have 9 t-shirts printed by then along with any other things that I want to sell. I hope I'll sell some stuff and make money to buy Christmas presents. If not, everyone is getting printed t-shirts for Christmas :D Actually I can't lose on this, but still it would be nice if people wanted to buy my prints.

One good thing this year though is super early Christmas vacation starting December 13. Yay! I'm going to relax and eat cookies and I'll finally have time to finish the book I'm reading - Sepulchre by Kate Mosse. I just realize that I started reading it 6 months ago. Wow, time really flies! I really want to start reading Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books too, as I've heard so many good things about them. And I'll have time to paint again! Ha ha I always have too many plans for Christmas! Maybe with this long vacation I'll actually have time to do some of the things I planned..?
